Opening in 1914, The Milk Shake Factory began as a small, family-owned soda fountain and chocolate shop in Lawrenceville. In 1978, the Edwards family expanded their business to a second location, this time on East Carson Street in the South Side of Pittsburgh. In 2003, a college project turned the chocolate shop into a milk shake joint by transforming the menu to offer milk shakes with the family’s flavored syrup recipes.

The fourth generation took over the business, and have since established a menu that has over 55 flavors of hand-crafted milk shakes with high-quality and fresh ingredients.

Recently, The Milk Shake Factory announced that they are partnering with Tull Investment Group to expand their business from two to 25 locations over the next three years. This expansion will not only grow their business nationally, but also introduce farm fresh ice cream and new and innovative techniques.

To enjoy a gourmet milk shake of your own, The Milk Shake Factory is open Sunday-Thursday from 11am to 10pm and Friday-Saturday 11am to 11pm. During these hours, you can enjoy one of the many flavors they have, including Brownie Fudge, Bananas Foster, and Caramel Macchiato. They serve classic, gourmet, and signature shakes. They also offer a variety of rich, hand-dipped chocolates, as well as sundaes, sodas, drinks, and, for those who want dairy-free, they have you covered as well.

The Milk Shake Factory has served gourmet milk shakes and chocolates for years, and will continue to grow as they plan for future expansions.
