The South Side is divided into two neighborhoods: South Side Flats and South Side Slopes, but was originally four neighborhoods. Both areas are riddled with sights to see and things to do. It has everything that any visitor would be looking for. Restaurants, bars, shopping, music, and art, it is the perfect neighborhood to visit for a weekend. Or, if you are the more adventurous type, try walking the South Side Riverfront Trail, which goes all the way to Washington D.C.!

Whether rain or shine, there is always something to do. Visit the South Side Works movie theater and see what is new in the box office. Afterward, go over to the Cheesecake Factory and enjoy a delicious meal, or make reservations beforehand at Stagioni and have a decadent Italian meal. Don’t forget to enjoy the view around you; South Side has beautiful murals around every corner. Be on the lookout for the elephant murals by Pittsburgh native and former Pittsburgh Steeler, Baron Batch.

For the nighttime life, you can go and see what bands are playing at the Rex Theater or at the Smiling Moose. You will always be entertained and never disappointed. The South Side always has something going on, whether in the morning when people are sipping a cup of Joe at Big Dog Coffee, or at night where people are watching a show at Club Café. Don’t forget about Fat Heads either; nothing beats the award-winning brews you can get here.

Pittsburgh’s South Side has all the characteristics of a great place to visit. When you are not enjoying the delicious food and entertainment, you are browsing and shopping the area’s best art galleries and clothing boutiques. It is an area that offers activities for all ages, and is sure to not disappoint anyone who comes and visits.
